Not Artsy Fartsy

Maybe it's the fact that it's been raining in Wilmington for 3 weeks straight that is making me randomly complain about things that don't affect my life at all, but allow me to vent for a moment.

I hate the way that Instagram makes people think they are suddenly artsy.  No, you are not a talented photographer.  You are an owner of an iPhone who got a free app and knows how to press "click".

Let's call a spade a spade here people.  Just because you can now post photos on Facebook with the light shining through just so, doesn't mean you went to some School of the Arts.

I don't "Elf Myself" and call myself a cartoonist.  An app does not a photog make.

Words With Friends, but definitely not lovers

Ever since I got an iPhone I've been playing a lot of Words With Friends.  Besides being slightly annoying, the ads at the end of each play are also kind of depressing.

Find Local Singles!
Check Out Singles in Your Neighborhood!
Lonely?  Find Available Singles!

The fact that these singles ads are so prevalent on Words With Friends makes me think that maybe it's kind of a lame past time.

It also makes me think that if I was in fact single, staying home on a Friday night, playing Words With Friends, and these ads kept appearing, I would become very, very sad about the state of my life.

Somehow even though I do all of those things, knowing that the ads don't apply to me as a married lady make me feel infinitely better.

Something about the combination of playing glorified Scrabble with perfect strangers and being taunted about being single and/or alone feels even more brutal coming from such a pocket-sized device!

Service with a bitter smile

Do you know what is not awesome?

Customer Service phone operators who give you the runaround. As in, "Let me talk to you for 20 minutes, listen to your problem that you've already told 5 other buffoons, act like I can help, and then ultimately tell you that the solution to your problem isn't in my department."

I recently synced my iPad to my computer for the first time in a while. It asked me if I wanted to join the Cloud. Naturally I said yes, because who doesn't want to live on a cloud?

Big mistake. That simple click of YES immediately deleted my Apple ID and all ability to work with the 300+ songs I've purchased from iTunes.

Commence Freak Out.

After calling LITERALLY 5 people, who told me that they "Have limited capabilities over the phone" (why the HELL is their a phone line for this sort of thing in the first place then???) I finally got word that my ID had spontaneously been changed to my email address.

Whatever. Problem solved.

The point is that it is damn hard to stay nice when you feel lost in a sea of telephone operators. I am a pretty nice person. And I was very nice to the first 2 people I talked to. But after explaining my issue for the umpteenth time to Customer Service Representatives 3-6, my voice got hoarse and my personality got a little "ragey".

If I am a paying customer who did nothing but get duped because I signed up for something that YOU offered me, don't screw with me. And DON'T mess with my musical collection of Mariah Carey and what is essentially "Now That's What I Call Music" volumes 1-37.

There are some things I can live without. But an mp3 of "Everybody Dance Now" by CC Music Factory is not one of them.

Sisterhood of the Travelling Funnies

I had a really great experience today. My first Skyping session with my sister in London.

The only problem was that neither one of us could hear each other. I really need to figure out my little computer! But that certainly did not stop us from continuing the session.

It was seriously hilarious. We were basically just reading each other's lips and laughing our butts off. It was like mime Skyping.

Sisterhood is officially the most amazing thing in the world I think. We gchat, text, call, silent-skype, Blackberry message, facebook post, post comments on my blog. I mean there is just no form of communication that is not fun for sissies...as long as they are both awesome!

I miss her a lot, but I like to know that just seeing each other's faces can set us off into fits of laughter. That's sisterhood at its finest!

Don't Drop it Like It's Hot

If I had a dollar for everytime someone on a Cardio machine at the gym dropped their iPod/iPhone, I would have about $47.

And I would've earned 3 of those dollars yesterday.

It's all about the iPod Shuffle people. It's lightweight, clips on a shirt well, and if you do drop it, you don't risk breaking your entire phone. And it's only $45!!

Get one today in any sassy color you like!

Picture This

If you ever need some good ol’ fashioned free entertainment, and if you have way too much free time on your hands, go to your local Verizon store.

Then go to any iProduct (i.e., iPad, iPhone) and find the Camera App. There you will find an abundance of double-chin angle shots from all the strangers you didn’t know were in your network.

You’ll see so much diversity in these pictures you will think it is a United Colors of Benetton ad…for Verizon…of double chins.

Bonus feature: There are lots of videos too. Only a few seconds a piece, but chalk full of confusion and, again, more double chins.

Technology, you are not my friend

Holy information overload.

As you can see from my new (albeit ghetto looking) tabs above, I am adding some more uumph to Diva Says What.

So far the only tabs I can think of are Diveats and Domestic Diva, but I'm thinking of adding a "TV is Awesome" tab too so I can ramble on about the Bachelor and other important shows like that in a safe haven.

As always, I'm open to suggestions. So let me know if you can think of any awesome tabs to add.

It only took me 4 full hours to add the tabs I have now. Oh my gosh this is hard. My brain hurts :(
