Sweet Treats

Grant signed up for a Bake Sale this week. And some how I ended up thinking of the recipe, buying the ingredients, and making the treats...How did that happen??

But that's ok, because I thought of a cute, easy idea!

All you need is these 4 ingredients.

1. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (premade)

2. Sugar Cookie Dough (premade)

3. Rainbow Chip Icing

4. Cream Cheese Icing

The rest is pretty self explanatory.

Bake the cookies.

Make the cookies into little sandwiches with icing in between. I put the Rainbow Chip in between the sugar cookies.

And the Cream Cheese Icing between the chocolate chip cookies.

Somehow the cookies really deflated in the cooking process, which made my cookie sandwiches look a little lackluster. But they were still delicious. I would know because I ate one and then subsequently wanted to vom. I do not handle sweets well. Mexican Chicken Casserole on the other hand, I can take down!

I bagged each sandwich individually with Saran Wrap and a little ribbon.

Easy, peasy, cheapy! I hope it makes some good money for that good cause that my husband couldn't remember the name of!

Pop Goes the Cake Ball!

I finally made cake pops last week.

FYI, they are NOT as easy as they look.

But they are much funnier to make if you make them with a 5 year old who does not have the slightest hesitation when it comes to flinging batter and licking the spoon.

While these pops will never when any awards for beauty, they were sinfully delicious and so much fun to make.

This could be an awesome decorating activity for a kids party if you could actually bake and form the balls ahead of time, and figure out how to eliminate the chocolate mess.

I was finding chocolate all over my clothes, legs, and forehead for the rest of the day when I made them...And then I found about 3 in my stomach...OOPS!

The next big little thing

If you haven't already, you simply must try a cakeball!

This delicious petite creation is all the rage right now and is the perfect dessert/party favor for bridal showers or any sort of party shower...except actual showers, that'd be gross.

The beauty of these little guys is that you can order or make them in any flavor imagineable, and they are portable if you wrap them individually. I went to a party last weekend with the following 4 flavors (naturally I sampled them all):

1) Lemon blueberry

2) Strawberry

3) Peanut Butter

4) Chocolate Chip

Looking for ways to get involved?

If you live in the Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem area, check out Yummy Goodness Bake Shoppe. They make great varities, including the 4 I listed above!

Or if you like to try baking things on your own, which I LOVE to do, here is a website I found with several different flavor recipes.

I am not lying to you folks, if you serve these at your next party people will think you are a genius. It was all anyone talked about at the bridal shower I went to last Saturday.

If they haven't come to a bakery near you yet, try baking them soon. The red velvet flavor featured here would be the perfect treat for your lover on Valentine's Day. However, I suggest including an alternate white chocolate coating with the milk chocolate, because that's a more Valentine's-y color combo.

Love is in the air!

Call on me, Call on me

There was a death in the family last night...and she was only 7 months old!

http://www.divasayswhat.com/2010/03/shes-baaaack.html

That little gal mentioned in the link above got water-freaking-logged last night. And even after an overnight bath in wild rice, still won't come to.

I wish I could say it was because I accidentally dropped it in the hot tub while going for a soak with Paul Rudd and his hilarious homeboys.

Sadly though that was not the case.

It drowned in a heated baking experiment gone right, then gone terribly wrong. While making these beautiful pumpkin-cinammon streusel buns above, I took my eye off of the increasingly wet countertop drowning from hand washed dishes (curses for not having a dishwasher!). The results were fatal.

However, the baking results were delicious. After spending only one hour kneading the dough by hand, over an hour waiting for the dough to rise, and about 30 minutes in the oven, the outcome was a delicious fall-inspired pastry.

I have since ordered a new (pimped-out Internet phone, omg omg omg finally!), which should arrive sometime today.

For the throngs of you that have been trying to hit up my cell piece to no avail, holla at me sometime after 5 today. Or email, because I can do that too now ;)

P.S. This above picture is not from my actual rolls. In addition to my phone being broken, my computer also has a serious case of the shakes that prevent me from using it at all since I can't read the screen. I can't wait to spend my whole day Sunday with the Geek Squad. Oh technology, how I worship and abhor you.
