Happy VDay Hoes

Happy Valentine's Day.

You know what will make your special lady love you forever?

Not getting her a pulsating necklace.

Have you seen this ridiculousness on TV recently?

AKA, they pulsate.  When your Valentine's Day jewelry comes with a video demonstration, you know it's going to be all class all the way.

Here's a list of characteristics I never wanted in jewelry:

1) For it to follow my every move.

Well, looks like that's the whole list!  I'd rather have a $10 box of chocolates that just sits still until I eat it, than a $800 vibrating, Rose Gold, heart-shaped, 3/8 carat novelty necklace that looks like it'd give you vertigo.  I wonder if batteries are required.

Love might be in the air, but it is not in that box from Kay Jewelers.  Trust me fellas.

Ghetto Jewels and Edible Gold

When I was in Houston last weekend my sister took me to this most ghetto-fabulous "jewelry store".  I think it was called Accessory Warehouse.  It was like the Taj Mahal of cheap jewelry.  And it was amazing.  I got 5 pieces of J.Crew looking jewelry for $35 TOTAL!

They also had important necklace messages like this:

I think there was another one with something like "I'll Cut a Bitch" on it.  But I didn't spring for that one either.

Even though the place smelled like a combination of cigarettes and child labor, we decided that even if the jewelry disintegrated before we even got to our cars it was still a better deal than jewelry from C. Wonder of J. Crew.

Speaking of that trip, did you know that Delta still serves snacks on the plane?!?!  I was blown away when I was offered my choice of complimentary pretzels, peanuts, or cookies.  I also think the disgruntled flight attendant was blown away when my answer was "Yes."  I was hoping to get all 3 but had to settle for just the savory delights.  2 is better than 1 though!  Especially if you are a ravenous prisoner to the air.

I got the Biscoff cookies on my second flight, which reminded me of this Biscoff Cookie Spread, which I immediately bought more of at World Market, which remains the best thing ever.  Get some today!

Jewels for a cause

Have you ever heard of the Noonday Collection?  Until last week, I hadn't either.  I heard of it through EatLiveRun.com, a great food blog that I've been reading for years.

The blogger just became an "ambassador" for the brand, and I just became a customer.  I bought this beautiful necklace.

I just received it in the mail and it is even more striking in person.  I love the contrast of the bright blue thread against the gold beads.

I also love shopping when you can justify it by helping people.  All the jewelry from Noonday Collection is fair trade and is made by struggling artisans, providing them with a path out of poverty.

The "ambassadors" also make money so it's not a 100% donation to the artisans.  But it's still charitable shopping as far as I'm concerned.

I also really want this:

Ancient Ways Necklace (*Backordered*)

and this:

Bone Carved Polygon Necklace

But I have to pace myself.  All in the name of charity and my neck.

Diamonds are a GIRL'S best friend!

I only know one man in real life that actually has a diamond on his wedding band, and I think it is beyond strange.

When you're living in small town North Carolina, and not gettin jiggy wit' it with P. Diddy and the gang out in Los Angeles, the basic rule for everything is KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Nonetheless, said man-bling got me to thinking about other taboo man jewelry. (Side note, I think all man jewelry besides wedding bands is taboo.)

That's when I found this.

I have some advice. If your husband-to-be asks you for his own engagement ring, be concerned.

Unless you are marrying Liberace, your man should feel comfortable letting you be the one in the relationship with the jewelry collection.

What do you think about man jewelry? Is a gold necklace a deal breaker for you too?
