My dad recently sent me this link - Spectacular photo captures moment great white is gobbled by an EVEN BIGGER shark as it's hauled into fisherman's boat
 
The photo is, indeed, spectacular.  I once caught a Hogfish in Florida and right as I was reeling it in to the boat a barracuda came and ate the bottom half of it off.  In case you were if there is anything uglier than a Hogfish, there is.  Half of a Hogfish.
 
That was small peanuts compared to this scene, however.  I mean just look at that beast!
 
It's hard to tell the true magnitude of the situation without knowing how big the boat is.  But I think a 2-great-white-shark situation is pretty intense no matter the size.

Anyway...the best part about this article wasn't even the shark attack!  It was this dumbass comment I saw in the comment section.

As usual, I am not saying that I am for or against any political figure, but I will say that I pity the fool who has so much hate in his heart to see something as random as a shark eating another shark and wish that it was another human.  But it's actually so dumb it's hilarious. 

That's a bold thing to say to the karma gods.  I wouldn't be very shocked to read in the news one day that "jeff spence" from Bombei lost a limb to a shark that looked eerily like lil' Obama above.  Be careful what you wish for!

Tonight marks a great night!  For it will be the first one in over a month that I don't have to worry about watching baseball or a political debate.

Sadly, the Cardinals lost the playoffs last night.  While Grant is semi-devastated because his beloved Cards lost, I am semi-elated that the yearly struggle of tolerating baseball viewing in my house is over!  Those games last FOR.EVER.  And the fact that this fell on the same night that the last political debate occurred is just the big ol' cherry on top.

And back to Grant going to bed 4 hours earlier than me.  Which is just to say that he goes to bed super early and I cannot, ever, make myself go to bed at a reasonable time.  One day I'll learn!

Why, oh why, do politics have to be so nasty and wretched?

 

I can't even walk out the door before having someone's political views shoved down my throat.  Whether it's on Facebook (omg please stop this!  whatever happened to good old drunk party pictures and funny quotes)?, the news, or just my mom sending me propaganda videos, it's too much!

 

Can't a person form their own opinion, over time, no matter what it is, without having that opinion battered and beaten on every form of social and regular media, all hours of the day?

Full disclosure here: I'm not registered for either party.  Socially, I'm extremely liberal.  When it comes to fiscal and health care matters, I'm just downright uninformed.  I am actually looking very much forward to the debates so I can form my own opinion and get my learn on.

 

However, in the past week alone, I've mentally switched parties no less than 20 times.  One day I'm a Republican because, yeah, Government spending and welfare and whatnot are out of control.  Then, naturally, every Democratic friend I have on Facebook goes on to post pictures and insults telling me and others how absolutely stupid conservatism is and that Republicans are racist and sexist.

 

Then the next day, Paul Ryan says rape is just another form of conception and suddenly I'm a Democrat.  Until someone tells me that is stupid too.

 

Obviously I should ignore the naysayers and just stand up for what I believe in.  But what if I don't know what I believe in yet?  Quit f*cking badgering me politicos!!  If everyone believed in the same thing think how ass-boring this country would be. 

 

Essentially this is my extreme opinion about not have opinions...yet.  Give a sista' some time y'all.  I'll get there.  No matter where that is.  But in the meantime, for the love of God/Noone/Whoever you want to believe in, recognize that insults and extremism do not equal progress.  One love.

Amendment WTF Were You Thinking

I am in disbelief that Amendment 1 passed in NC yesterday.  I won't say, like many people have, that I am ashamed of North Carolina.  I'm just ashamed and feel pity for the individuals who voted for the Amendment to ban gay marriage.  I really didn't think that people in this day and age still had that capacity for ignorance and close-mindedness.

I voted yesterday because I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I didn't.  Not because I thought my vote mattered.  I assumed that everyone in their right mind would vote against it.  I clearly underestimated the amount of hatred and stupid there is in the world.

I would seriously like for one person who voted for Amendment One to tell my why he or she did so.  And please, don't quote the Bible.  Because I'm sure the Bible never mentions that "Thou Shalt Wear Copious Amounts of Hair Gel All the Time," but I'm sure some of the same people who voted for Amendment One will also vote for Mitt Romney.

I truly don't understand how anyone could believe that two people, probably people they don't even know, being married can affect their life negatively in anyway.  And I'm not buying the "sanctity of marriage" argument.  There are a lot of man-wife marriages out there in which spouses cheat and beat on each other.  Where's the sanctity in that? 

It's about love.  It's about commitment.  And it's about the right to register at Pottery Barn for new linens.  JK.  It's a CIVIL RIGHT people.  How can you conceivably argue that that right shouldn't apply to a group of people!?  How is that not the exact same as racial discrimination which we all decided almost 5 decades ago was criminal?

I'd like to argue that if gay people can't be awarded the same right to marry who they want to in the state of North Carolina, then they should not have to pay into certain state taxes that ultimately benefit legally recognized married people.  Sure, that sounds petty and illogical.  But sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.  And in this case that fire is just sparked by some assbackwards hatred that I cannot even wrap my mind around.

In fact, that's not just assbackwards.  That's bullshit.

This is why I have never been able to get on board with politics in general.  If people can't be rational when it comes to basic social justices, how are they to be trusted when making decisions regarding what is fair in terms taxing the public and controlling the level of health care they receive.

This is a sad event in the history of our great state.  I hope no other states follow suit.

This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing

I am in no way political, so I'm not posting this is a satire of the current Government. I am, however, posting this as a reflection of the dumbasses that made the new logo for the Department of Innovation.

However, if you're not into reading words, let me explain briefly. The 3 interlocking gears in the logo are just that...locked...So they can't move.

That's about as innovative as turning something around 360 degrees. Whoever designed this is clearly not the sharpest interlocking gear in the toolshed.

It is not a good month for the US Government.

Caress Me Down

I've flown kind of a lot recently and heard a lot of bitching about the whole pat down, pseudo -molestation thing with airport security.

Well I'm here to tell TSA that you ain't hurtin' me.

Hell, I like the pat. I'll take any free massage I can get. Even if it is a cheap 10 second rub-down from a stranger.

I think I do have heightened senses when it comes to back rubs, but I also LOVE free stuff. So this is just a win-win for me.

Try again Government regulations. Mamacita prefers the TLC from a blue-shirt. Just don't give me the see-through-clothes-machine please! There are some areas that not all the situps in the world can mask...even in a computer generated 3D simulation.

I would really like to think that I had something to do with this after yesterday's in depth political analysis of the situation in Libya.

Usher, Beyonce, and the original MC have been called upon to donate or give back the money they earned from performing for Qaddafi on NYE 2009.

According to my Google alerts, and this article, Mariah received $1million to perform a mere 4 songs for Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi's son.

This is pretty inexcusable. Not just because of the unethical and political implications, but also because you know Mariah Carey is not that desparate for $1million. She was named one of entertainment's 20 richest woman in 2007 and has more stilettos than Jimmy Choo himself.

She must have forgotten to read her daily diva mantra that day. You know the one? "It is not diva to perform for evil dictators."

While I may not be an expert on politics, I am an expert on Mariah Carey. So I can't tell you what the future holds for Libya, but I can tell you that my guess as to the 4 songs that could be worth a quarter of a million dollars a pop are as follows:

2) Hero

3) Dream Lover

4) Vision of Love

I hope you are all out there asserting your right to vote...in something fabulous!

I myself am not voting today because, I am truly embarrassed to say, I have a stronger opinion about whether or not it's ok to hold hands than I do about who should run our local legislative offices.

That being said, I'm sure someday I'll be rich and famous and have to worry about the local and statewide goings on, as I will have multiple homes all over the country and buckets of money that need to be taxed fairly.

But in the meantime, I vote NO on handholding! It just isn't natural!
