I Miss Mindy

You know what is kind of bad?  I think I might be more excited about April 1 (the return of the Mindy Project) than March 18 (my due date).

It's not that I'm a terrible person or not going to be a loving mom.  It's just that the Mindy Project is the best show ever to grace Television.  And it left us with one of the most epic cliff hangers in cinematic history.  If you're a girl and totally love romantic comedies!  If you're only into murder and mystery, this won't make you feel quite as strongly as it does me.
 Here's the thing:

On or around March 18 I'm either going to be pushing a baby out my hooha or, according to the rather douchey doctor I saw yesterday, having a c-section.  Jack is breeched and loving it so I might have to go the surgery route.  Whatevs.  As long as he's healthy, and all that feel good crap.

Also, I know with 100% certainty that on April 1, Mindy is going to make me giggle and giggle and maybe even pee my pants a little if what they say about having children is true.  It's likely to be more like a couple of weeks before Jack cracks his first smile and months before he makes his first intentional funny.  The odds for having me in stitches aren't in his favor.  Unless you count the literal type.  Then he's the front runner.
This is my first Tuesday of the Mindy Project winter sabbatical so perhaps I'm being a little dramatic as a result.  The good news is March + April will be filled with debuts of all kinds --> Mine as a mother, Jack's as a human, and Mindy and Danny as two people K-I-S-S-I-N-G in a tree!

The Mindy Project - The Project of My Life

My name is Marilyn and I'm obsessed with the Mindy Project.  And half-priced fajitas.

Tuesday is officially the new weekend.  For me at least.  Since I can't drink on the weekends, it's all about food and entertainment now.

That makes Tuesday the Ferrari of all the days of the week now.

Allow me to explain.  It's simply really.  It's called the Mindy Project and it is officially my favorite show of all time.  It's cute.  It's clever.  It's absolutely hilarious.  The characters don't take 16 seasons to make out, and they aren't all 30 year old super models pretending to be 16.  And it makes me giggle.  Basically it's everything I could ever ask for in a show.

And I'm just going to go on record as saying that Mindy and Casey are the best couple in all of TV history.  Forget Carol and Mike Brady.  Poo poo on Miss Scarlett  and Rhett Butler.  Mindy and Casey are where it's at.  "I thought this was going to be a fling, based on your body type alone."  Those are the romantic words of our generation, people.

Sometimes I find my face hurting after the 30+/- minutes of hilarity because I've been smiling the entire time.  Not just because it's funny.  It also warms the soul.  And I say 30+/- minutes because sometimes I spontaneously pause it here and there just to make it last longer.  It gets me that much closer to the next Tuesday.

And as far as the food goes, Grant and I have been eating half-priced fajitas at my favorite restaurant of all time every Tuesday for a couple of months now.  Without me taking Bud Light drafts to the dome, our entire meal is just $13 each week.  We eat at 6pm to avoid the crowds and the food is perfect 100% of the time.

Something about having a guaranteed Mexican feast every Tuesday just makes the weeks so much more glorious.  You've already gotten through Monday.  You get a dank meal on Tuesday plus the obvious delight of watching the Mindy Project.  Next thing you know it's hump day and that stupid camel is making you laugh.  Then it's Thursday, which is basically just Friday wearing a marginally more productive coat.  Then bam!  It's Friday, you have already mentally checked out, and your weekend is well on its way.  Who knew a simple half priced meal could change your life like that?!

This goes down in our relationship history as the best tradition we've ever created.  Topping even the one-time tradition of going to Hooters on Christmas Day.

Who needs weekends!?  I've got Tuesdays, y'all!

Now Everyone Probably Is Hanging Out Without Me

I left my book at the Doctor's office last Friday.  I called when I realized I'd left it and left a message.  I assumed they'd have it sitting right up front for me.  NBD.

Well I went to retrieve it this morning and it was no where to be found.  One girl behind the front desk said she saw it in the patient room so we checked in there.  No dice.

She said, "It was that book about 'Why Won't People Hang Out With Me?' or 'Nobody Wants Me to Hang Out With Them' or something like that right?"

I said, "Right!" Excited that we were getting warmer.

No one could find it.  I left empty handed.  Boo hoo, whatever.

Then it hit me in the car ride to work: OMG.  She probably doesn't know who Mindy Kaling is and she thinks I am reading the saddest, most desperately titled self-help book ever.  I won't go into stereotypical detail, but trust me, this was not the type of woman who watched The Office and The Mindy Project.  I'm 99% sure she didn't know this was a mindless book of humorous essays.

So that was fun.  Now I'm bookless and embarrassed.  Any good book recommendations?  Preferably something new and exciting, but just old enough to be available in hardback??
